By accessing or using rentvsbuy.in (“the site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the site.

1. The service

rentvsbuy.in provides free and paid financial calculators and expense tracking tools for personal, non-commercial use. These include analysis models for rent-vs-buy, home loans, SIPs, income tax, solar panel ROI, and the **Split Bill** shared ledger module. Calculator results are estimates based on your inputs and built-in assumptions, and are not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice.

2. Accounts

Some features - such as saving calculations and accessing premium tools - require an account. Account creation and authentication are handled by Clerk. You are responsible for:

Keeping your login credentials secure
All activity that occurs under your account
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the site for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to break, overload, or compromise our systems
Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content without written permission
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the site
Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to access the site beyond normal usage
Impersonate another person or entity

We may suspend or restrict access if these terms are violated, without prior notice.

4. Premium plans & payments

We offer paid subscription plans (Plus and Premium) that unlock additional features such as higher usage limits, AI-powered calculator modes, ad-free browsing, and unlimited saved calculations. Key terms:

Pricing: Current pricing is displayed on the site and at checkout. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes.
Payment processing: All payments are processed securely by Razorpay. We do not store your payment card details or banking information.
Billing cycle: Subscriptions are billed annually from the date of purchase.
Cancellation: You may cancel auto-renewal at any time from your account menu. After cancellation, you retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period.
Refunds: Payments are non-refundable once processed. If you cancel, you will continue to have full access until the end of the paid period.

5. Data, calculations & shared ledgers

Most calculator inputs are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save a calculation while signed in.

For the **Split Bill** tool, transaction inputs, friend balances, expense divisions, and group ledger parameters are stored in our secure cloud database to enable collaborative expense tracking. You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission from other participants before adding them or sharing their email addresses on the platform.

6. Intellectual property

The site's design, code, branding, and content are owned by rentvsbuy.in. Calculator results generated from your inputs belong to you. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute the site's interface, designs, or underlying code without written permission.

7. Advertising & Sponsorships

Free-tier users may see advertisements served by Google AdSense as well as direct, first-party sponsorship banners. By using the free tier, you acknowledge and agree that ads will be displayed. Premium plan subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and all calculators are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

Calculator results are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose
The site will be available without interruption or errors
Any defects will be corrected in a timely manner

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, rentvsbuy.in and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the site. This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing hello@rentvsbuy.in. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Upon deletion, your saved calculations, subscription history, and personal information will be permanently removed from our systems.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
